"Town Haul" is a brand new show for The Learning Channel's Genevieve Gorder (one of the designers from "Trading Spaces") is hosting this new large-scale, community revitalization/renovation show. Basically, TLC finds a small town in America and spends one intense month renovating 6-10 different locations throughout the town. Cast members work with the local community of volunteers to best represent and renew the town's spirit!

Town Haul program's Landscape Architect and TV celebrity, William Moss, inspired by spiritual nature of Shona sculpture, and by Spirits In Stone reputation for community involvement prompted show producers to telephone curator Anthony Ponter last week. They described the town of Laurens and Town Haul's project to help renovate and revive the spirit of community in an entire black business district. William said that he knew Spirits In Stone would have just the perfect "ingredient" to inspire and pull together the central theme of the town...honoring generations and Ukama. But it had to happen in less than 36 hours!

The SIS team sprung into action, and packed up what was to become known in Laurens as "The Mystery", a 700 pound behemoth of a crate, wrapped in black to prevent any "peeking" by over-enthusiastic townspeople. After Anthony drove 100 miles through a terrible storm to make the flight, the massive crate was air shipped to South Carolina where it arrived just in time for its TV debut and town dedication!

So...just what is the "Laurens Mystery"? What does the mysterious black package conceal?

To find out, just read on! Our segment will air sometime between February and April, 2005. When TLC tells us the firm dates, we'll let you know. Then just tune in to see how curator Anthony Ponter and the team from Spirits In Stone moved mountains—literally—from one side of the US to the other to contribute and be a part of this amazing community building show. And to reveal once and for all the mystery of the black box!
