Their First Shona Sculpture!
 |
Former Secretary of State, George Schultz and his delightful wife, Dame Charlotte Maillard Schultz, the chief of protocol for both San Francisco and the State of California, received their very first Shona sculpture. In a presentation at the United Religions Initiative Gala at the Four Season's Hotel in San Francisco on February 21st, the sculpture was unveiled. The artwork embraced the contributions of both their lives to public service and diplomacy.
Entitled 'The Inner Core' by Lazarus Takawira, the sophisticated sculpture celebrates the Shona strength of a spiritual inner core of being, even during turbulent times, to hold one's spiritual core centered and to embrace the needs of others. To search out solutions to human communication and understandingthe very essence of a diplomat. The Schultz's were very moved by the elegance of its message and the Spirits In Stone team was represented by Anthony and Laura Ponter, Karl Byrn, Jennifer Sorenson, Rebecca MacKenzie, Marcus Withington, James Withington, Megan Byrn and Camille Stabler.
