Featuring Artist: Nelson Rumano
Nelson Rumano was born June 6, 1958, in Murewa, Zimbabwe. He was raised with six brothers and two sisters and attended Jekawa Secondary School. Rumano began to learn to carve in 1981 and now carves full-time. He enjoys carving what he calls "traditional figures." His work has been exhibited in France, Britain, Holland and the United States. He and his wife, Irene, live in Harare with their two children: Phillipha, born in 1988, and Shady, born in 1990.
Some of his works include the "Crane," the ancestral grandmother spirit of serene happiness, nobility and family devotion. The "Elephant" represents the mighty female spirit of endurance, patience, and long life. The "Wise Owl" is regarded as the bringer of truth, good or bad.

Wosene at the Claremont Resort & Spa
Gicleé Release Party
When working with fine arts printers to create the gicleé (a gicleé is the finest reproduction of an original piece of art) of his most recent painting - Monterey Bay II - the artist Wosene became fascinated with the union of art and technology. "Through the computer, I have access to so many more colors than I could possibly mix on my palette in the studio." The colors in these limited edition prints are rich and vibrant, and the light created in his original paintings is intensified when touched by technology. Each print is unique, each slightly different - each a work of art. Come and see for yourself on June 18th.
