Masks Magic & Meaning View Masks
The Western mind calls African Masks "works of art". To many
Africans, masks act as spiritual and ritual objects to explain and
assuage the unreal and unknown. One cannot truly feel the power, the Magic,
of the mask until seen against a roaring bonfire, in a wildly animated dance of pounding
drums. The Meaning of these sacred masks
represent important spirits of protection and procreation.
The sacred, the ritual, the Spiritual: this is the poetic language of
the mask. It is a language of complex mythological stories, rich
traditions and historic legends. These traditions were not written
but remembered and acted, each time differently. The stories, mask
designs, costumes and dances pass through the generations as cultural
treasures.

The historic Everett Ridge Winery, situated in the stunning Dry Creek

SIS) recently acquired Everett Ridge Winery of Healdsburg, CA.
Spirits In Stone was invited to establish an outdoor sculpture garden
in the beautiful grounds overlooking Dry Creek Valley, and an indoor
gallery featuring Masks, paintings and smaller sculptural works in
the spacious and dramatic tasting room. In addition, Spirits In
Stone, in cooperation with Everett Ridge, will be producing an
