Shona 'State of the heART'

Ring Of Love
Samuel Murambika
Piece number: 130593
The close embrace of this loving couple celebrates care and trust between people—the basic family kinship, or Mhuri. In Shona society, family bonding stands as the foundation for the entire culture. It is the sacred unit and all laws governing Shona society serve to protect these vulnerable bonds. The arms and bodies are carved with a continuous flow of rhythm to signify the unbroken bonds of their souls. This couple, locked in eternal embrace, offers constant reminder that love abounds in all places of the world.©

Bush Telegraph - Monthly news from Africa
'Mozambique On the Move!'

Mozambique has demonstrated the importance of implementing progressive policies that can tackle deep pockets of poverty.

The Mozambique economy has grown by over 10% in the past few years. With South African and Zimbabwean commercial farmers transplanting their operations and heavy equipment into Mozambique, this beautiful country is creating viable large farms for both local consumption and valuable export. Bootstrapping their way into prosperity.

Mozambique, now recovering from its failed communist experiment, is creating more and more farm jobs so the poor can lift themselves up in dignity and bring home more food and a better life for their families. The Shona peoples, also good farmers, are traditionally established in Mozambique, and many Zimbabweans have now transplanted themselves to live with extended family there during these difficult times. Hopefully, this will assist Mozambique's recovery.

Once touted as the glamourous "Riviera of Africa," Mozambique is restoring its vital shipping port, infrastructure, agriculture and economic base. In just a few more years, it will be ready once again for more tourists to stroll their pristine beaches and to further shore up their economy.

Although over 60% of the population still lives in poverty, the government has initiated a long-term 25-year plan to restore the economy. They are following the example of Ghana, which has also bucked the trend of economic unraveling with careful planning to achieve stability.

Spirits In Stone salutes Mozambique, a "better" news story from Africa!
