Micah Lamar - Glass Artist
Micah Lamar Mouth Blown Glass Beads
Spirits in Stone invites you to view Micah Lamar's stunning Egyptian gold & crystal collection created using 4000 year old techniques to the exacting standards demanded by Pharaohs. Each bead is individually sculpted using 24K gold and crystal glass at over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Going back to his roots in bead making, Micah is delighted to release The Egyptian Gold and Crystal Collection. A dazzling array of Art Glass Jewelry combining moving color, voluptuous shapes and exploding light. "I individually sculpt each bead by submersing 24K gold over colored glass and beneath crystal at over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. I use one of the most difficult techniques in glass bead making because of the delicate process of fusing precious metals to glass."

Meet the artist and see a live glass blowing demonstration on June 7th from 5 to 9, for a 1st Thursday event in downtown Santa Barbara. Call for more information 805.882.1319

Artist Reception - Wosene Worke Kosrof
Sunset at Mt. Tam
Sunset at Mt. Tam
Ethiopian born artist Wosene Worke Kosrof is not new to the art world. Exhibiting since the early 1970's, his complex, intensely colorful canvases can be seen in major exhibits throughout the world, and in collections such as the National Museum of Ethiopia, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC, the Newark Museum in New Jersey, and the Neuberger Museum in New York, among others.

From reviews by significant art critics such as Holland Cotter of the New York Times, to the cover of the Artweek magazine, Wosene is acclaimed as one of the most important international painters.

Through his art, he creates bridges between traditional African elements and contemporary expression, while the rhythms of jazz inspire the moods and textures of his paintings. Wosene's art is a visual experience of writing memories. His paintings are alive with aromas, sounds, and flavors. Using Amharic script, Wosene creates a new world of language with abstracted symbols, shadows, and color.
